Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) is a large, internationally renowned school with over 1300 students from more than eighty countries situated on a purpose-built 9 acre site in the heart of the Arabian Ranches community in the vibrant city of Dubai. An inclusive school by mandate of its mission statement, JESS joined the growing family of IB World Schools offering the Diploma in 2009 and has since grown from strength to strength in its delivery of the IB curriculum.

The school maintains an exceptional record of IB successes with cohorts of over 90 students gaining their Diploma and Diploma Courses with grades significantly above the published world averages across all subjects, including a select few who have achieved the pinnacle of IB success by gaining the full 45 points. Over 85% of the cohort attains more than 30 points, 55% get 35 points or more whilst 20% achieve 40 points or more which results in the overall school average hovering above 35 points. The school takes pride in the fact that this is achieved by students coming with diverse competencies and abilities.

Our students have consistently received places in the top higher educational institutions across the globe with candidates taking up courses (increasingly with scholarships) at Cambridge, Oxford, Bath, Loughborough, St. Andrew's, Edinburgh, Caltech, Brown, UCLA, Toronto, Sydney, Melbourne, Leiden and Stellenbosch to name but a few.

To facilitate success at JESS, the school has a dedicated team of professionals focused on supporting both the pastoral and academic needs of its IB students. Their care and support features at the forefront of the JESS approach to IB Education and is one of the key ingredients to the school's stellar successes.

The school was designed with community as its theme so the layout and buildings help encourage communal interactivity and co-dependence through the utilisation of open amphitheatres, gardens and low-lying clusters of buildings that enable students from all years to collaborate and participate in the myriad of activities (such as open-air choirs and concerts to morning fitness activities) that take place on a weekly basis.

JESS also provides a range of facilities to its students which include:

  • A purpose-built IB Student Centre which provides students with a dedicated study hall, recreational common room, kitchen and locker area

  • A modern lecture theatre and auditorium

  • Dance and Performing Arts Studios

  • Extensive Design and Visual Arts Workrooms

  • Extensive sporting facilities which include swimming pools, rugby & football fields, netball courts and a multi-purpose Sports Hall

  • IT suites and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity across the entire campus (both internal and external)

  • Extensive science labs and support facilities

  • Dedicated Primary and Secondary libraries

  • A dedicated Learning Support Centre (The Oasis)

  • Student Activities

  • IB students are encouraged to participate fully in school life and be role models for the rest of the school. Many students support activities for lower year groups, right down to Foundation 1 in our Primary School.

  • JESS offers an extensive range of activities including sport, musical performances, art exhibitions, academic competitions and service opportunities, as well as many international trips. In addition, there is an abundance of opportunities in the local community.

  • JESS students compete against local schools and in international competitions in sport, music, debating and academic subjects.

  • Admissions

  • The school expects students to have a strong academic track record and looks favourably upon any extra-curricular engagement and individual accolades across all areas.

  • Students must have demonstrated proficiency in English as this is the school's operating language of instruction.

  • Each student's programme is tailored to their particular abilities and needs.
