International Network

The Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad was established in 2011 as the second in an integrated network of schools being established across 14 countries in Africa, Central and South Asia, and the Middle East.

The Aga Khan Academies focus on excellence: we aim to develop students to become home-grown leaders who can enact positive change in their societies. We provide a rigorous education for exceptional students selected on merit, regardless of their socio-economic, cultural or religious background.

The Academies customise the IB curriculum to our mission of building future leaders. We aim to stimulate creativity, intellectual curiosity and honest enquiry.

Service and Stewardship

We integrate a strong emphasis on service within the curriculum. Students are actively involved in service projects in nearby government schools, and PYP Exhibitions and MYP Personal Projects often focus on innovative solutions to global issues, including environmental sustainability and women's empowerment.

Developing Leaders

We provide a leadership programme that strengthens understandings and dispositions needed by ethical leaders of the future. Students experience leadership roles across community service, sports, arts and student government.

Grade 12 students also benefit from unique service internships with non-profit organisations that provide authentic experience in local community development, e.g. in education, rural development, and women and child empowerment.

Key Facts

  • Our four graduating cohorts were collectively offered US$11.7 million in university scholarships and funding, and are studying in universities worldwide.
  • 50% of students receive financial aid, ensuring a diverse and inclusive community. We recruit exceptional students from less privileged backgrounds.
  • Over 1/3 of students graduate with a bilingual IB Diploma.
  • About 85% of faculty are local. Overseas faculty provide external expertise and build local teaching and leadership capacity.
  • A partnership between the Aga Khan Academies and the Province of Ontario, Canada gives students access to tuition scholarships for some of the world's best universities and brings seconded teachers to the Academy.
  • The Academies are part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which works to improve quality of life in the regions where it operates.
  • The Academy also works with teachers and leaders from government schools to build local education capacity.
