Al Faris International School is a fully authorized IB World School in the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (DP). The school was established in 2004 and is licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Education. Diversity is reflected in the student and teacher profiles as well as the teaching methodology and resources.

School Facilities

Facilities include interactive classrooms; state-of-the art computer and science labs; four libraries serving diverse grade levels; art rooms; an auditorium; sports facilities including a gymnasium, indoor and outdoor soccer courts, two indoor swimming pools, ballet and gymnastics rooms; spacious, shaded playgrounds; a school clinic and cafeterias serving healthy snack options.

School Programmes

Al Faris International School provides an enriching, challenging and supportive learning environment that allows each student to fulfill his/ her own individual potential. Students in Grades 11-12 have the option to pursue a full IB Diploma or an American Diploma. Primary and middle school students are automatically enrolled in the IB PYP and MYP.

Al Faris provides a curriculum that meets international standards aligned with the American Common Core State Standards for English, Math, and Social Studies and the NGSS for Science. Our curriculum includes the core subjects of English, math, sciences, social studies/history as well as Arabic, French, computer studies, robotics, art, and physical education.

Primary Years Programme

The Primary Years Programme is offered from K-5. Through this programme, the diverse needs of the students are met by ensuring that learning is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant in order. The school follows a trans-disciplinary model, whereby themes of global significance frame the learning. This means that students are encouraged to make connections between subject areas, and traditional curriculum areas are used as lenses to help students inquire into big ideas. Through inquiry, the students question, wonder, doubt, speculate and generalize as part of their learning journey to construct meaning about the world around them and consider local and global situations critically from multiple viewpoints. In the primary years, opportunities to share experiences between students, parents and teachers are critical elements in developing a sense of international mindedness.

Middle Years Programme

The Middle Years Programme extends from Grades 6-10, as Y1-Y5 respectively, and enhances the skills that young learners will use throughout their life beyond the classroom. The Middle Years Programme is guided by three pillars inspired by the IB mission: holistic learning, intercultural awareness and communication. These, along with the other IB learner profiles, produce independent, inquiring, knowledgeable, caring, and responsible citizens in the community and in the world who extend appreciation to their culture as well as other cultures in a world of differences. MYP students are thus encouraged to translate and reflect on the learning per subject and the learning connections between subjects into a product (action) and help serve their community and the world around them.

Diploma Programme

The Diploma Programme includes grades 11 and 12. The Diploma Programme was established to provide students with a balanced education, to facilitate geographic and cultural mobility and to promote international understanding.

Through the Diploma Programme, schools are able to develop students who:

  • have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge
  • flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically
  • study at least two languages
  • excel in traditional academic subjects
  • explore the nature of knowledge through the program's unique theory of knowledge course.

Extracurricular Activities:

Students are offered a wide variety of extra-curricular activities including after-school sports programs and the newly established Al Faris Academy offering sports, exercise classes, music, drawing, science, Arabic and Holy Quran.
