Alcanta International College is a unique school with high ambitions. We put students at the center of their own international education with the goal of developing global citizens prepared for a world of options when they leave our campus. We aim to live the IB ideal.
Established in 2011, AIC has been inspired by the IB philosophy. We push students to inquire, to be open-minded as they live among a diverse student body, to care for one another, and to maintain balance in their own lives. Beginning with a cadre of 12 students, we have steadily grown to a student body of over 200, with our sights set on more than three times that number. Despite our growing numbers, we maintain small class sizes so we can address the academic and social needs of individual students. We like to claim that we are the most personal school in southern China with an overall teacher-student ratio of 1:8. We take pride in the close relationships and friendly cooperation among students, parents and teachers.
We are one of the few international schools in China that enrolls both Chinese nationals and students who come from other countries. Our modern facilities and contemporary education practices provide access to rich learning opportunities for a diverse group of learners.
The school runs the IB Diploma Programme for its senior students, and also offers a four-year Pre-IB Program aimed to prepare students for an IB education. The Pre-Diploma Programme is unique to our school as it blends the school's particular needs with ideas borrowed from a diverse set of international curricula. We offer contemporary education practice, complemented by the modern facilities and equipment that one would associate with a new school.
AIC is located in the beautiful Nansha District of Guangzhou, conveniently situated near three airports that make it a good launch point for international travel - Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Baiyun. Sitting at the mouth of the Pearl River Delta, just a short ferry ride from Hong Kong, residents of Nansha enjoy tree-covered hills and riverside walking trails. A short trip to the north provides access to Guangzhou, the most populous city in southern China with a long history and a bustling modern atmosphere.
