The Benjamin Franklin International School (BFIS) is an independent, coeducational, IB world school, which offers an English-language, college-preparatory program from Nursery through Grade 12 for students of all nationalities. Founded in 1986, the school offers a differentiated, American curriculum, fully accredited with strong academic programs, including learning support, service learning and foreign languages. BFIS offers three diploma programmes: American High School Diploma, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and Spanish High School Bachillerato Certificate. BFIS is a truly international school with 700 students, representing more than 50 different nationalities and cultural heritages.

As an American International school, the curriculum is rooted in US standards, such as Common Core for Math and English Language Arts, Next Generation Science Standards, and the C3 Framework for Social Studies Standards. The school believes that a meaningful curriculum needs to connect teaching and learning to the world and bring out the best in each student. Students must be active participants at the center of the learning process and must be given the opportunities, instruction, guidance and support to discover their interests, pursue their passions, and develop the skills and knowledge they need to thrive and reach their full potential.

Standards are delivered through an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning with a focus on innovation and technology through a wide 1:1 program, makerspace, and robotics. The school promotes meaningful uses of integrated technology to develop critical thinking skills and support continuous inquiry. In addition to the academic programs, BFIS has developed a robust social-emotional approach to create a supportive environment for all students and help them to strengthen their social-emotional skills, such as self-esteem, confidence, resilience or problem-solving, which will place them on a path for long-term success in all areas of life.

BFIS IB results have always exceeded the IB worldwide average scores and the school's pass rate is very close to 100%. The significant achievements of BFIS students in such a challenging academic program have gained them entry into a range of competitive colleges and universities worldwide.

BFIS has three campuses with sports courts, playground spaces, several science labs, cafeteria, two libraries, a makerspace, a computer lab, and auditorium for 350 people. In 2016, the school inaugurated a new Elementary building and in September 2020 a new Middle School building will be open to students.
