On behalf of all the staff at Braeburn Garden Estate Secondary School I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you as prospective students and parents. Braeburn Garden Estate Secondary School (BGE) is an International, co-educational school with the option of weekly boarding, educating students between the ages of 13 and 18 years (Year Groups 9 to 13).

BGE has students from a wide diversity of countries and communities, more than 45 different nationalities at the last count. We teach children to respect each other and to show an interest in the opinions and beliefs of others. Opportunities are created for students to celebrate differences in cultures and backgrounds, as part of the curriculum and through school events.

BGE offers a curriculum based on the English National Curriculum. While this is the basis for what we teach - with a significant emphasis on the development of core skills - all our students are given opportunities to learn from their context here in East Africa. Many of the learning experiences are therefore based on 'real', meaningful interactions from group-based investigations to outdoor learning and from whole schooled themed days (e.g. Space Day) to individual tasks differentiated for the needs of the child.

We pursue a holistic approach to education, placing equal emphasis on academics, sport, music, drama and the arts. Students are encouraged to become involved in many different extra-curricular activities and attend a range of educational visits. This rich and varied program compliments and extends the student's learning experience and provides them with the skills they need to succeed the World beyond Garden Estate.

In Years 10 and 11 students study a range of IGCSE subjects and in Years 12 and 13 students study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) or the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (CP). We are full members of Council of International Schools (CIS) and we continue to develop and grow as we become more successful and ambitious.

Braeburn Garden Estate has been delivering the IB Diploma courses since 2002 and consistently exceeds the IB world average pass grades. We were also the first school in Africa to offer the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme in order to expand the potential university and career options for our broad intake of students. Small class sizes, high teacher to pupil ratios and differentiated teaching practices, all work to ensure that each and every child is closely monitored and able to reach their full potential. We encourage our children to be open to new opportunities, to work hard and strive to excel, both within and beyond the classroom.

Overall, our aim is to provide a stimulating, safe environment where students feel happy and excited about coming to school and where they can enjoy a wholesome, fulfilling educational opportunity that prepares them for all walks of life.

Universities around the world, from the UK to the US, from Scotland to South Africa, have welcomed Braeburn Garden Estate graduates. With the extensive, grounded education delivered at Braeburn Garden Estate, our students become successful international citizens, respectful of others and are well prepared to enter the global workplace.
