Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School: Mission & Vision
The mission of Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School (BASES) is to celebrate the unique complement of gifts and talents each learner possesses and to cultivate those strengths into powerful assets that serve the student and society. Through a rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum we equip our students to be fully active participants in local and global communities. Carefully designed learning experiences foster the development of personal attitudes that contribute to student success and academic achievement.
As an International Baccalaureate World School, we are dedicated to the mission of creating a better, more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and with an intentional focus on social justice and equity. As our students learn to appreciate the contributions of others, they develop an awareness of their own value to the learning community as they discover, collaborate and reflect on projects that showcase their learning and development.
In addition to the academic program, Brooklyn Arts offers a plethora of enrichment opportunities. The school offers music education to all classes and partners with the Noel Pointer Foundation for violin instruction. Students explore the visual arts in the school's studio and dance exploration in the dance studio. The school also offers fencing and chess. STEM is offered through a partnership with the BEAM Center.
