Bryanston provides pupils with a distinctive experience and also a warm, welcoming and friendly community. We aim to develop well-balanced 18-year-olds, ready to go out into the wider world, to lead happy and fulfilling lives and to contribute, positively and generously. This aim is reflected in the principles of the IB, making it a natural fit at Bryanston. In 2020 our sixth cohort of IB Diploma pupils achieved an average score of 34 points.

Set in 400 acres of Dorset countryside, Bryanston offers a wide range of facilities, including purpose-built centres for science and mathematics, art, drama, music and sports.

Our tailored approach means that pupils benefit from extensive one-to-one time with their tutor and also with subject teachers each week, providing the academic and pastoral support they need to achieve their full potential. We help pupils to build academic confidence that is based on strong organisational skills, bravery to think creatively and taking risks - in essence, developing the skills and attributes that will allow them to flourish. Outside the core IB curriculum there is a fulfilling academic enrichment programme, as well as a range of over 100 extra-curricular activities on offer ranging from beekeeping, to music production, through to Model United Nations and filmmaking. All our pupils, whether they are studying the IB or A levels, are encouraged to pursue a wide range of interests.

As a full-time boarding school, weekends are an integral part of life at Bryanston, with many of the School's facilities open and the chance to take part in a range of sports fixtures, outdoor activities and rehearsals. There is a particular focus for the whole school on some weekends and more specialised activities on others. Recently one year group spent their Saturday climbing and canoeing at an outdoor adventure centre in the beautiful Isle of Purbeck.

In September 2019, we began teaching the IB Career-related Programme. It offers the same as the IB Diploma in terms of breadth of subjects studied but has additional vocational qualifications. You can also attend one of our Information Afternoons, held in the autumn before you would be due to join us, to meet members of staff and get a feel for what Bryanston is like.

Entrance procedures for our IB courses require candidates to sit both an English and a maths test, have an interview with the Headmaster and meet Heads of Departments. Candidates unable to attend our Test and Interview Day can sit their papers at a suitable venue overseas and have a Skype interview with the Headmaster.

Successful candidates are invited to an induction week in June to explore their chosen subjects before confirming their academic programme. This gives candidates the chance to familiarise themselves with the School, make friends and get to know their tutor. It means that when starting Sixth Form in the following September each pupil is already a member of the Bryanston family.
