CHMD: A relevant educational model
At Colegio Hebreo Maguen David we are certain that it is possible to put together an educational project which places the individual and the community at its core. This is why, for us, the school is a space in which imagination, creativity, experimentation and inquiry are promoted; it is an open space for collaborative learning, joint creation, dialogue and innovation in order to continuously improve our pedagogical project.
Hence, we have designed a school that values and enables the development of the talents of those who participate in this learning experience. We develop innovating academic programs as we strive to generate social and emotional conditions conducive to the well-being and growth of our entire school community. We have designed meaningful experiences for the transmission of our traditional values and the construction of a solid Jewish identity in our students.
Through the Digital Culture educational model, we have designed a new thinking and living way in the school. From Kindergarden to Highschool, our students are learning differently through four courses of action: Makerspace, Media-lab, E-Tools and Learning Architectures. This school transformation has been possible by hacking five dimensions: time, space, curriculum, evaluation and bonds. This is how we create new teaching formats where students decide and participate in their learning process.
Maguen is nowadays a benchmark for educational innovation nationally and even internationally speaking. In 2017 our school was recognized by Inter-American Development Bank as one of the 30 most innovative schools in Latin America. It was the first school in Latin America to have a Makerspace, a place inspired by the maker philosophy of learning by doing. Additionally, after the transformation of our spaces into innovative platforms that enhance interaction and collaborative learning, the design project of our school was awarded the bronze medal at the latest Design Awards in Milan.
Value, tradition and knowledge, represent our foundational beliefs and our commitment towards future endeavors. That is why, at CHMD we choose to take on the challenge of teaching to live as the biggest challenge of a relevant 21st century education.
