Positivo International School is the first PYP school in the State of Paraná, south of Brazil. It opened its doors in 2012 and it is part of a larger educational group that was founded 45 years ago. Through a multicultural approach Positivo International School encourages its students to act as global citizens. The international learning embraces activities that involve local and global contexts as well as the connections between various cultures and countries, which allows experiencing new realities and developing universal values. By doing so, our aim is to cultivate people capable of making the difference anywhere in the world.

Faculty

The faculty includes 128 full-time and part-time teachers, all holding university degrees, postgraduate educational qualifications and many masters’ degrees. All English teachers have International language certifications. We also have a mixture of local and foreign teachers.

School Activities

Positivo International School offers a full range of extra-curricular sports and cultural activities including Basketball, Flute, Soccer, Ballet, Yoga, Gardening, Jazz, Judo, Water Polo, Guitar, Baseball, American Football, Lego Club, Robotics, Fencing, Badminton, Vocal Group in English and Mini Tennis.

The students also participate in Arts, Multicultural Cooking, Swimming, Mandarin, Volunteering, Science Club, Logical Games and Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Languages

The school uses two languages of instruction: Portuguese and English. The access to the curriculum and the learning in school occurs through the use of both of those languages. Spanish and French are offered from year 6 on. Mandarin is offered as an extra-curricular class.

The use of different languages in the school space helps to develop a citizen of the world, an international minded citizen who has great sociability, ease of acquiring knowledge, perception and intercultural understanding and respect for diversity. We respect and honor how language reflects the individual and cultural beliefs, attitudes and perspectives, and are committed to creating the opportunity to help our students find their voices in our society.
