Dallam School has been an IB World School since 2007 and is located on the southern fringes of the English Lake District, part way between the city of Lancaster and the market town of Kendal. As a co-educational school with state boarding, we are a learning community of local and international students and we embrace the internationalism of the IB programmes and develop our students to become active enquirers and independent learners. Dallam provides a learning environment where our students develop the skills and mind-set that enables them to progress in life with confidence.
The Diploma programme at Dallam is very successful. Our average points score in 2017 was 34; many of our students outperform this with one third achieving a score between 38 and 45. Many students move on to some of the most prestigious universities including Oxbridge but our caring and student-centred approach ensures that all students are guided towards meeting their own future career plans and aspirations.
Dallam offers the IB Diploma and the IB Career-related Programme - a popular vocationally focused alternative to our academic offer, as well as the more traditional UK A Levels. Beyond the classroom our students develop as young people by taking advantage of our extensive enrichment opportunities. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is extremely popular as are the Community Sports Award programmes. Music and theatre provide strong extra-curricular opportunities. Students can also take advantage of our excellent sporting facilities and many participate in competitive sports.
Dallam Boarding provides a caring and secure home to many of our international students. A dedicated team of boarding staff provide for the pastoral needs of our boarding students and has helped to create an environment in which young people are valued and their individual needs catered for.
