The European School (ES) is a private school in Tbilisi, Georgia. It is recognized as one of the leading international schools in one of the world’s most historical international cities. The name "European School" was chosen to differentiate itself from the common educational practices in the region, as the school continuously upholds European-International best standards and practices to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The school offers three educational systems- National, International Baccalaureate and American High School. It has been ten years since we opened the school and on the first day of the 2017-2018 school year, over eight hundred students took their places in the classrooms.
Our Mission Statements are living documents implemented with Internationalism in every subject at ES and underpins all discussions, actions and views. In the spirit of empathy and tolerance, our students continually evolve their individual and cultural identities while openly embracing membership of a community that is socially, culturally and linguistically diverse.
Using the world as our educational platform for learning, our students engage in various intellectual, ethical, moral and environmental issues which help them to become confident, knowledgeable globally-aware citizens prepared for all future challenges. The students that graduate from ES are willing not only to communicate but also to participate in a compassionate way towards making our world a more respectful, peaceful and equitable place for all.
The European School was authorized for the IB Diploma Programme in 2009, for the Middle Years Programme in early 2012, and Primary Years Programme in 2016. Since 2015, the American High School Program is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools under AdvancED. In 2016, The European School became a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS). This membership demonstrates that our school is committed to quality international education.
Through the introduction of the IB programmes, the European School has developed into a quality educational environment capable of developing young learners into life-long learners upholding international standards. Students have graduated from our Diploma Program with exemplary results allowing them to enter quality universities around the world.
The school has a plethora of modern facilities for learning: five computer labs(PC/ Mac), Smart Kids Lab, Lego Lab, Robotics Lab, modernized physics, chemistry and biology labs, Geography and Multi Media Language labs, and two art studios. The indoor gymnasium caters for basketball, volleyball and rock climbing. The outdoor sporting facilities include football areas, a tennis court and it allows us to hold inter-school competitions and multiple physical activities. The school has its own television station, situated within the building, for students to make television programmes, report, broadcast, etc. Each year, the school hosts the 'Golden Butterfly Film Awards' - a competition for young film-makers from around the world to gain recognition for their creative skills in the medium. The school also has two libraries that are well resourced. The European School implements STEM programs in different age groups.
Staff at the European School are dedicated professionals and are recruited both locally and internationally. Apart from foreign language classes, the language of instruction is strictly English. Classes do not exceed 15 students. The student body is now an interesting and inspiring blend of over twenty nationalities. Mother-tongue is highly regarded at the European School and students study Persian, Romanian, Arabic, Russian A and B, German, French, Turkish, English A and B, and of course Georgian within the programs depending on level, and our ability to accommodate them.
The European School prides itself on its close-knit community knowing each child personally and gently guiding them to fulfil their full potential.
