Instituto Anglo Británico belongs to the Madison Group of Schools, which are located in different Mexican cities: Monterrey, Torreón, Mérida and Chihuahua. Instituto Anglo Británico is located in Apodaca, a suburb of Monterrey, in North-eastern Mexico. Monterrey is a modern and industrial city, known as one of the three most important cities in Mexico.

Monterrey has at least four well-known universities with important international exchange programs and several smaller ones.

Instituto Anglo Británico was founded in 1993 in order to offer our community an international school for their children (1 to 15 years old), with programs that help them develop critical skills necessary for the globalized world we live in.

Our school provides a holistic education to better prepare our students to thrive in a fast-changing and highly-connected world. Even before the school achieved authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) in 2003 and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) in 2007, we adopted and identified with the IB's philosophy. Three of our staff members are workshop leaders and site visitors for MYP and PYP. We welcome students from all religions and nationalities in order to encourage diversity and internationalism. We have worked with students from Germany, Spain, India, Argentina, Korea, Japan and the United States.

The school has programs that nurture its students' development:

  • Jason Project: A science project that requires students to study global issues.
  • Future Leaders: As part of the program, students work on a project that includes industry-related visits and exciting guest speakers, culminating in a presentation and prize giving ceremony. It is also a good opportunity to mix with other students from all over the world.
  • Odyssey of the Mind: Students compete in an international contest, solving problems and developing their thinking, creative, and budgeting skills. Winners of the national round get to compete at the international level.
  • Model United Nations: Academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy.

One of the Madison Group of Schools' greatest strengths is an International Teachers Program that enhances our students' abilities to interact with foreign cultures and learn from them. For the last fifteen years, we have had instructors from Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, England, Ireland, Lebanon, Scotland, Poland, and the United States, teaching in our schools.

Our constructive learning environment allows students to be lifelong learners that are proficient in English and Spanish.

Students and graduates from our school are well-appreciated by the community and by the high schools they attend.

Our well-articulated, inquisitive, mature and responsible graduates (as well as current students) have already made a difference here in Mexico.

Instituto Anglo Británico is officially recognised by the SEP (Secretaría de Educación Pública), and is also a member of the FEP (Federación de Escuelas Particulares) and IBAMEX (Mexican Association of Authorized IB Schools).
