The International School of Denver (ISDenver) is an inclusive, globally minded community that develops highly motivated and academically successful bilingual learners. ISD students are inter-culturally adept and make positive contributions in a complex world.
ISDenver is proud to be authorised to offer the three-year Middle Years Programme. Our preschool through 5th grade programs offer immersion in French, Mandarin or Spanish to families representing more than 50 nationalities. Our younger learners follow a rigorous, broad and balanced curriculum, based on the national standards and benchmarks from accrediting agencies of France, China and Spain, as well as Colorado State Standards. Our teachers are native speakers of the languages, and our specific approach to immersion education gives the learners an authentic bicultural as well as bilingual education. The development of their intercultural competencies provides a perfect foundation for their entry into the IB MYP in 6th grade.
Within the MYP structure, we continue to focus strongly on the development of bilingualism, while building international-mindedness. We capitalise on the students' broad knowledge base and help them apply their diverse approaches to learning to global contexts.
As a three-year MYP school, our culminating work is evidenced by both the Community Project and a service learning trip to Costa Rica. Our 8th grade students are well prepared to meet the challenges of high school: 100% of our graduates are admitted to their first or second choice high school, with 87% attending their first choice school - often a local IB World School.
