Kent College Facilities
Kent College sits on the outskirts of the historic city of Canterbury on an 80 acre campus. As well as boasting 26 acres of sports fields, the school has a working farm where students can join the Farm Club or receive riding lessons. This year will also see the completion of the Great Hall, a 600 seat state-of-the-art auditorium for the performing arts.
Kent College offers a full range of IB subjects for study over the two years of the Diploma. We also offer a very popular pre IB course in Year 11, this allows students to get a taste of their IB options. Our IB results have been consistently very high with an average points score of 37, placing the school in the top 10 Independent IB schools in the UK. The ISI Inspection in February 2015 compared our results as "exceptional in comparison to worldwide averages".
Many of our students gain the bilingual diploma as they are able to study literature courses in their first language alongside the main programme. All our Diploma candidates gained places at their first choice universities including Oxbridge, top London Universities alongside other European Universities.
We are very flexible when it comes to constructing the timetables for Diploma candidates and encourage applicants to identify courses and subjects they wish to study even if we do not offer them as we are able to bespoke most options. Kent College offers outstanding levels of teaching and support for the IB Diploma with additional classes and tutoring available as standard to ensure the very best outcomes for individuals. Class sizes are small - generally between 8 -14. The school also offers A Level, GCSE and IGCSE.
The academic life of the IB student is complemented with a rich and diverse extracurricular programme. There are large numbers of clubs and societies for every interest and new ones established each year to meet the changing desires of our students. National representation in sport is common with equally high standards in music and drama, there is simply something for everyone at Kent College.
The pastoral system in the school is highly valued and central to our ethos as a Methodist school, the family atmosphere and supportive environment in the boarding and day school community means that well rounded global citizens leave the school on graduation from the IB. The majority of students are British but the school’s students represent over 40 different nationalities. The school operates a strong pastoral network from House Parents to Tutors and Heads of Year that ensures all students receive the wrap around care that they need to flourish academically and to grow into confident young adults.
