Founded in 1964, Lyceum Kennedy French American School serves the needs of French and English speaking families living in New York City and the metropolitan region. Fifty years later, the school is worldly recognized, offering a nurturing yet rigorous bilingual education to its students.

The school operates two campus locations - in the heart of Manhattan, just two blocks from Grand Central Terminal. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is offered at the school's 815 Second Avenue campus location.

Currently, Lyceum Kennedy welcomes 300 students from more than 40 nationalities, ages 3 through 18 years old and provides a family-oriented school environment. Our teacher/student ratio in the upper school allows us to work with each student as an individual in order to instill a love of learning and to ensure academic success.

IBDP Mission

Lyceum Kennedy's mission is to provide its students with a unique bilingual and bicultural education based on the principles of self-expression and differentiated pedagogy. Committed to the IB Programme Lyceum Kennedy fulfills high educational standards through challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.

Core Values

At Lyceum Kennedy, we emphasize multiculturalism, bilingual education, transdisciplinary academic inquiry and critical thinking. We aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The IB Programme encourages students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Curriculum and IB

In September 2014, Lyceum Kennedy became an authorized IB school for the Diploma Programme. We offer 11th and 12th graders a unique, bilingual French and English IB DP, with Spanish and German as additional foreign languages. This program is ideal for all students seeking an exceptional education that prepares them to become responsible citizens of the world and the leaders of tomorrow. In addition, students follow the New York State Board of Regents program and are encouraged to take Advanced Placement (AP) exams.

Additional language support is provided to help students strengthen their second language so that they can participate in all English and French programs with native speakers. We also provide a wide range of after-school enrichment classes which allows students to fully develop further in their intellectual, creative and physical activities.
