Moscow Gymnasium 1409 is a state educational budgetary institution for pupils aged between 3 and 18 years, comprising the Pre-Prep, Junior, Senior and High Schools, one of the leading International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, focused on combination of two esteemed curricula, that of the National Curriculum (Federal State Educational Standards) and the International Baccalaureate programmes. Our aim is to provide ample opportunities for academic excellence, sporting, artistic, handicraft, musical and dramatic achievement. Our schools have excellent teaching facilities, well - equipped classrooms, well-resourced libraries, access to information technology and numerous options for extra-curricular activities.
Authorized to offer MYP, Gymnasium 1409 is a World School and keeps in touch with the schools from different countries: The USA, The UK, Italy, Spain, France, China. The School is rooted in the community and we collaborate with other schools at home and overseas which enriches the cultural experience of pupils. Gymnasium 1409’s academic expectations are high. The breadth and balance of our academic programmes exceed the requirements of the National Curriculum and we begin to group pupils by ability while they are in the Junior School. This approach encourages children to apply their talents and aptitudes with diligence and perseverance.
The aim of our Junior School is to produce independent learners who are confident and motivated. The Curriculum in the Senior School offers the National Curriculum’s principles and IB Middle Years Programme standards and practices, placing particular emphasis on Language Acquisition (English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Chinese) and focusing on Language and Literature, Maths, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Arts, Design, Physical and Health education. Students tackle the wide range of subjects in their greater depth and detail, and their learning programme includes extended pieces of work, which they research themselves. The High School is career-oriented (Medicine, Economics, Legal Affairs, Linguistics, Engineering), and students have the opportunity of combining theoretical and practical lessons in school and in universities as well, with which we have collaborative partnerships. We are also interested in IB Diploma Programme and are on the way to implement it.
A key contribution to progress comes from the school’s links with home. Parents take part in various school activities, festivals, evenings, games, and performances. With home and school working in close partnership, each is able to provide a unified and coherent environment in which it is possible not merely to grow but to flourish.
We believe that our motto “Omnia potest gui biscere potest” encourages our students to explore their own interests and skills, broaden their understanding of themselves and each other, learn to think, aspire and achieve.
