History and development
OEC International School (OECIS) is funded by Daming Group and is a division of Shenzhen Oriental English College founded in 1994. OECIS a co-educational school with students enrolled from kindergarten to high school. Our school is a set of kindergartens, primary school, secondary school, Hong Kong and Taiwan schools, IB International School and Korean International School in one of the full-time, full-boarding private schools.
OECIS has been an authorized IB world school since 2004, delivering IB structured curriculum for over 13 years. OEC covers an area of 150,000 square meters (about 37 acres). With 114 classrooms, 3400 students and staff, advanced facilities and the campus provides for collaborative spaces and areas for group and individual teaching and learning.
Located in The Baoan Education District, only a five-minute drive from the Shenzhen International Airport, it is situated at the foot of the Phoenix Mountain and surrounded by picturesque natural scenery. Shenzhen City, also known as the first Special Economic Zone in China is easily accessible from Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
A well-acclaimed international IB programme is offered to meet our students’ diverse educational needs. In addition, we also offer intensive English training courses to help students prepare for both their English instruction in class and the various language requirements set by universities. The ratio of student-faculty is 5:1, which ensures each student receives sufficient attention and guidance. Our students have achieved remarkable results and continue to excel in all areas.
All classrooms have a comprehensive range of resources which includes a wealth of technology resources. Each classroom is equipped with interactive white boards and are used to present classes. We also have a dedicated, well stocked library from which children and families can borrow a range of books, story sacks and other resources.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)
OECIS’s CAS programme is supported throughout the whole school. Grade 7-11 students can take part in activities/trips during our annual CAS week. When our students reach the IBDP in G12 they already have solid foundations in the principles of CAS. Promoting awareness of global issues and planning special events such as talent shows and the graduation ball.
