Queen Margaret College is the largest independent school for girls Year 1 - 13 and is one of the top academic schools in New Zealand.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, we are authorised to teach all three IB programmes which includes the:

  • Primary Years Programme
  • Middle Years Programme
  • IB Diploma

Senior students can also choose to study New Zealand's qualification, the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), as part of the dual qualification pathway offered at QMC. The curriculum fits closely with the holistic philosophy and international vision of the College.

The College has a 100% pass rate for the IB Diploma and is one of the top schools for NCEA results. Our students are accepted to study at the best universities in New Zealand and often study at elite universities around the globe.

We offer a world class learning environment with expert teachers who are committed to helping girls achieve academic success. The College has excellent facilities, small class sizes and our students are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school as much as possible. There are many opportunities available for girls in leadership, sport, music, performing arts and international exchanges.

Established in 1919, our central city location provides ready access to all that a cosmopolitan capital city offers with the New Zealand Parliament, museums and art galleries all within walking distance.

The College is future focused equipping students for today's digital world with technology integrated throughout the curriculum. Within this dynamic learning environment, girls are encouraged to develop their skills and talents across all areas and are challenged to pursue excellence and their personal best.

The College provides boarding accommodation for girls Year 9 to 13 in its purpose built boarding facility, Queen Margaret House. Queen Margaret House is the only boarding facility available for young women wishing to study in Wellington. Its location in the heart of the city will provide girls with the opportunity to explore the best of what our vibrant capital city has to offer.

A Queen Margaret College education develops articulate, competent and compassionate young women who have a desire to have the best education and to make a positive contribution to the world.
