Rossall has been described as a 'warm, inclusive and remarkably happy place to be'. Set on an historic 160-acre campus, Rossall is one of the country’s leading independent co-education boarding and day schools, where boys and girls aged 0-18 are nurtured in a safe, secure and supportive environment.
The School currently provides one of the broadest curriculum programmes available in the UK independent school market. The senior school continues to follow the British National Curriculum culminating with GCSE/iGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. In the Sixth Form, students then have the choice to study either A Levels or the globally recognised IB Diploma Programme.
In 2020, Rossall celebrated outstanding results. In the A-level examinations, nearly 20% of grades awarded were the top mark of A*, giving a 5 fold increase on last year and firmly beating the national average of 14%. Just under half of the pupils achieved an A* or A grade and nearly three quarters achieved A*-B.For the IB Diploma, the average point score was 34 with with many courses being awarded only a level 6 or 7. Rossall Year 11 students also achieved excellent GCSE exam results. 100% of pupils achieved 5 or more passes (grades 9-4 or A*-C) including Maths and English and over half of all pupils achieved a grade 7-9 or A*-A.
Rossall's enviable on-campus facilities include 150 acres of outdoor grassed sports pitches, floodlit all-weather surfaces, a brand new £4 million sports centre, heated indoor swimming pool, Fives courts, shooting range and multiuse-games-area. In 2016, Rossall opened its Golf Academy, boasting an indoor golf studio, equipped with the latest video analysis equipment and GC2 launch monitor/simulator, as well as an indoor putting lab and swing room. Rossall also has its very own football academy for boys and girls, in partnership with League 1 football club, Fleetwood Town.
The School is also home to the Lawrence House Astronomy and Space Science Centre, the only centre of its kind in Britain, specialising in astronomy education. A huge range of extracurricular activities are offered to all pupils throughout the school. Students can join everything from the world famous Chapel Choir to the oldest Combined Cadet Force in the country.
Last year, the School developed its own petting zoo, boasting rabbits, pygmy goats and guinea pigs. Students are able to help out with the zoo and also visit the animals in their free time.
Admitting boarders as young as seven years old, Rossall's 'family structure' provides the framework for its exceptional standards of pastoral care. With major investments recently ploughed into its 8 boarding houses, each house is a well-equipped and comfortable home, which are in the process of being sensitively modernised to the highest of standards. Rossall School is a registered charity (No. 526685) that exists to provide education for children.
