Background: Sanjan Nagar is a journey of lifelong learning unlocking the potential of children/families from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds. It is an evolving school for the future nurturing young learners through inquiry based liberal education in a global context bearing the motto 'Enabling our Future'.
'Sanjan Nagar' means 'people's voice'. 'Sanjan' is 'truth seeking' and 'Nagar' means abode for in depth inquiry. Inspired by the philosophy of Mr. Raza Kazim, the patron of the school, Pakistan's Renaissance man, the school was established in 1995 through philanthropy for low income communities. The Board and the Education Committee are active governance bodies providing close oversight for the IB PYP and recently embarked MYP.
School Vision: "To enable children and youth to become caring, knowledgeable and creative citizens of tomorrow for the meaningful progress of our society through a holistic education experience."
The School: The Sanjan Nagar School shifted to its current purpose built facility in 2003. A co-education facility since 2006, today the flagship campus is a single shift facility with 910 students enrolled from pre-school to grade XII, providing 15 years of rich experiential learning, respecting diversity.
It boasts of many alumni returning to school, as teachers and young leaders, an inspiration for the Sanjan Nagar chronicles.
IB Primary Years Programme: Sanjan Nagar is the only non-elite IB school in the country; it was the first school in Punjab province to be authorized for IB PYP. The school seeking authorization for the MYP and is in the consideration phase.
Student activities: The school's enrichment program is embedded in programs on peace, tolerance, language development, exploring literature, e-learning, youth leadership, arts and crafts, theatre /music, sports, field visits, hosting/participating in the children's literature festivals; surdents exchange programs in USA (IEARN-YES) and South Asia for experiential learning.
Facilities: Students Club spanned a three week program in Chess, Literature, Debates, Communication; Design; Citizenship; Science, Environment, and Guiding; teaching expression, experiential and collaborative learning. Sanjan Nagar provides rich facilities and atmosphere for cultural inquiry, exploration and exposure to multiple identities. The facilities include: a Custom Built School; well stocked Library, Computer and Science Labs; Auditorium; Theatre/Arts spaces, Sports/Play areas; kitchen garden; health/ referrals. The campus is an optimized space for its large & diverse student body and local community.
