Sherborne Girls is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1899, it has been at the forefront of girls’ education for over 100 years. The school provides a rich environment for the development of well-educated, confident and caring young women who are committed to making significant and positive contributions to the world in which they live.

Sherborne Girls offers a broad and innovative academic education with a strong emphasis on developing an enquiring mind, instilling a good work ethic and striving for excellence. Lessons are stimulating and fun and girls are encouraged to question, investigate and challenge, while exploring and debating in small classes where they are able to express themselves openly and with confidence.

Running alongside the curriculum is a considerable programme of academic enrichment with many opportunities for joint societies and lectures with neighbouring Sherborne (boys) School. This collaboration also provides opportunities for joint drama productions, music ensembles, academic and social activities.

Girls at the school consistently achieve outstanding results at GCSE, A level and IB. In 2017 the average point score for the IB was 35 with 12% scoring an outstanding 42 points or more. 74% of Sherborne Girls achieved A* -B grades at A Level and 89% of GCSE results were A* to B.

By offering the dual pathway of A Level or IB at Sixth Form, Sherborne Girls caters for students wishing to follow specific courses in depth (A Level) as well as those who wish to maintain breadth in their education (IB Diploma).

Sherborne Girls places a strong focus on the pastoral care of its students and through its tutor system, it provides a high level of individual support ensuring that every girl is appropriately challenged to achieve success and fuel academic interest.

In addition to academic excellence, Sherborne Girls also believes in the personal development of its students continuing outside of the classroom, and every girl is encouraged to immerse herself in the broad range of activities on offer. National and international exchanges , an enviable sports programme, adventure and leadership opportunities and an inspirational speaker series are all part of what is on offer. A state of the art Science Centre, Art of the very highest quality, a Music Department with an outstanding reputation, and the opportunity to perform in the impressive Sherborne Abbey, all ensure that whatever strengths, passions and interests, there is something for everyone.

In Sherborne Girls' recent Educational Quality Inspection, the inspectors found both the quality of pupils' academic and other achievements, and the quality of their personal development to be excellent.
