St. John's - Kilmarnock School (SJK) is the leading co-educational independent school in the Waterloo and surrounding region. Established in 1972, the School is located on a beautiful 36-acre natural campus. We offer enriched educational programming for students from JK – Grade 12 through our accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. Our diverse community, of approximately 400 learners includes 40 international students with a student/teacher ratio of 15:1.

At SJK, students exceed expectations in an environment where they are engaged, understood and supported. Students learn through inquiry-based instruction where they are encouraged to reach their fullest potential. The quality of contextual learning is one of the aspects that make SJK and the IB education powerful and distinct.

Our specialized teachers utilize innovative approaches to learning and collaborating, in technology-rich environments, preparing our students for their post-secondary studies and lifelong learning. We are committed to equipping our students with a new kind of thinking in local and global contexts.

A dynamic and diverse co-curricular program helps develop the whole child and extends learning beyond the School's gates. The community has the opportunity to try new things, discover passions and learn the value of different perspectives and cultures.

Travelling abroad with the Five Worlds Program, experiential learning and service projects enrich the learning experience realized through the global classroom.

In addition to having authorization to deliver the PYP, MYP and DP programmes, SJK is also accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS), and is a member of the Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario (CIS).

At SJK students find their excellence within, love to learn, and graduate as confident, well-rounded individuals, fully prepared for post-secondary education and life beyond.

The journey begins here.
