Our Mission: We encourage and enable all of our students to realise their potential, fostering independence and maturity in order to prepare them for their future as Global Citizens.
Who is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme programme for?
Students wishing to experience an inspiring education with classmates from around the world. This is a qualification that challenges, encourages and inspires students to become caring, critical thinkers; ready for university study and globally-focused careers.
What will you achieve?
You will:
- Be able to progress to an international university;
- Possess desirable study skills, such as critical thinking, independent research and real-world context;
- Gain life skills, such as independence, confidence, good communication and international mindedness - all essential for university and your future career.
Key features of the IBDP:
- Study six subjects - Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics and the Arts;
- The Theory of Knowledge asks you to reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know (epistemology). It is assessed through an oral presentation and a 1,600-word essay;
- An Extended Essay prepares you for the study skills required at university;
- Creativity, Activity, Service comprises Arts and other experiences that involve creative thinking; physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle, which improves and complements your academic studies; and an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit;
- Additionally, throughout your course, you will be supported by career counselling via our Key Professions Programme and academic-skills workshops.
Our success rate
In 2021 our International Baccalaureate students received brilliant exam results. Their average total diploma score was 37 compared with 33 as the average global diploma score. Top-scoring students achieved 42 points, while only 5.8% of students globally achieved 42 or above in 2020.
We are especially proud that 94% of grades achieved were 5-7, which brings us to a 100% success rate on the Diploma Programme for the fifth consecutive year. The global pass rate for 2021 was 89%.
