Warminster is a coeducational school of 551 students aged 2 to 18, located in the South-west of England. Founded in 1707, the school is a member of HMC and has been an authorized IB World School since December 2005.
Warminster School prides itself on its ability to combine a strong academic record and excellent facilities with a warm, friendly family ethos. A comprehensive pastoral care programme, centred around the role of the tutor, provides appropriate levels of support at all times.
Warminster School's students have consistently achieved excellent results, averaging 34 points in 2016, an average of 31 and a 100% pass rate in 2017, and an average of 30 in 2018. In 2019 the average was 29.9 and in 2020 the average was 30.3. 95% of our students go on to study at leading universities around the world, including Oxford and Cambridge, where the IB Diploma is particularly well received. Several individual candidates have secured exceptional IB results; the highest candidate points scored to date is an outstanding 44 points out of 45.
Warminster School welcomes students from over twenty-eight different countries into a community that celebrates its own diversity and encourages service to local, national and global societies. With a talented and enthusiastic staff and a diverse range of subjects and activities on offer, pupils are able to develop their potential to the full. The wide range of co-curricular activities include music, drama, a comprehensive range of sports and opportunities to go on challenging international visits.
Experienced resident house staff provide a supportive environment for boarding students in comfortable, well equipped boarding houses. Recreational activities and trips are arranged each weekend. For medical care there is a school nursing sister on duty every day.
Subjects offered vary according to student demand but typically include: English A and B, German A, 'self-taught languages', French B, Spanish B and Ab Initio, History, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Environmental Systems, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Theatre, and Visual Arts. Additional online courses are available in Film, Business Management, Philosophy, French and Mandarin ab initio. As well as offering the Diploma Programme, from September 2017 Warminster School has offered the IB Career-Related Programme, combining Diploma Programme subjects with vocational qualifications (OCR Cambridge Technicals at level 3) in Business, Engineering and Sport.
