Welcome to Williamsburg Christian Academy, a Christ-Centered International Baccalaureate Boarding and Day school where...
We provide college preparatory instruction...
Our International Baccalaureate curriculum and life skills focus do more than prepare students for tests; they prepare them for life. WCA is approved for both the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes and executes both programmes with a talented, loving, and committed faculty of Learning Facilitators. There is an emphasis on IB's Approaches to Learning (ATL), delivered to prepare our students thoroughly for the rigor and structure of university and to be equipped with the life skills to survive and thrive in college life. In addition, WCA has a dedicated College and Career Counsellor whose sole focus is to help students assess their skills and interests and successfully navigate the college application and testing process.
...in a culture of grace...
As a Kingdom Education school, our students are immersed in the Holy Spirit, and our courses are taught from a Christian Worldview. Although we are Christ-centered in our instruction, being a practicing Christian is not a prerequisite to attending WCA, all are welcome to apply and attend.
...through personalized learning...
Every student at WCA is seen, heard, known, loved, valued, and shaped. Whether a student has learning challenges, is a gifted learner, or wants to learn remotely, our flipped learning method helps us deliver directed solutions for all of our students.
...in academics, arts, and athletics...
Combine our rigorous IB curriculum with our extensive athletics and arts programs, as well as our student-centric extracurriculars, all in a Christ-focused day and boarding setting, and you will see why families rave about their WCA experience. WCA has 13 sports teams spread throughout three seasons and has reached championship level in basketball and swimming. Our campus is equipped with a dedicated art studio, and our students select our extracurricular activities. In the past, student-selected clubs have included chess, drama, photography, and men's and women's culture clubs.
...while building relationships...
We have a special tagline universally applied to all things WCA: #HowWeEagle. Our student culture and fellowship, especially in our residential program, set us apart. Our student body is fun and supportive, and our vibrant student body welcomes and accepts our international students from the moment they step on campus. Because that's how we Eagle!
...that inspire students to serve their community...
Stewardship is one of the key characteristics we endeavor to instill in our students. Not only to make them global citizens who make a difference in their countries and communities but to help them understand their paramount role of serving others as disciples of Christ.
..and become Christ-centered leaders.
In the final analysis, our ultimate goal is to send our graduates out into the world as principled and compassionate global citizens. To do that, we work diligently to instill several key character traits known as our Seven Pillars. These Seven Pillars consist of Awareness, Respect, Innovation through Inquiry, Communication, Wellness, Stewardship and Development of their Christ-Centered Walk.
Residential Life at WCA
Residential life at WCA is an immersive experience that builds relationships and a strong sense of community in a safe, structured environment that helps nurture every student. We invite our students into a community of care that they can call home. Our residential community provides a structured setting with a comprehensive focus on safety that helps nurture every student. We believe that authentic living can not be compartmentalized and that we need to address all safety aspects (physical, emotional, and spiritual). In our dorms, or 'cottages', students relax, fellowship, play, and live together on a scenic Residential Campus less than five miles away from their academic setting, where they enjoy their home away from school. Essential staff members are on-site to meet the needs of our students. Healthy, nutritious meals are shared around the table, and special fellowship activities are also available on our residential campus to foster friendship, team building, and stress relief, including weekend trips.
Location
Our school is nestled in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, USA, a small rural city that was America's birthplace. Colonial Williamsburg is nearby America's first permanent settlement of Jamestown, and Yorktown, the site of the British surrender at the end of the American Revolution. From Williamsburg, many of America's largest and most exciting cities, such as Washington, DC, New York City, and Philadelphia, can easily be reached. WCA is also short drives away from both the sandy white beaches of the Outer Banks and the Appalachian mountain range. In addition, Williamsburg is home to the beautiful Busch Gardens amusement park, and roller coaster-heavy King's Dominion is just a short drive away.
College Advisement
Our students have access to an experienced college admissions coach at WCA who can help in all aspects of college and university admissions, from researching colleges based on career interest to writing the perfect admissions application essay and even lining up scholarships and financial aid. Students from WCA have been accepted to top-tier colleges and universities throughout the United States, such as Princeton, the College of William and Mary, Brown University, the University of Michigan, the University of Virginia, Liberty University, and VCU Arts.
