Located in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, Shandong province, Yew Chung International School of Qingdao has earned its reputation for excellence in international education with a commitment to global education.
The curriculum at YCIS Qingdao in ECE, Primary and Lower Secondary years is research based and unique to the Yew Chung foundation of schools, while students in Years 10-11 transition to the Cambridge IGCSE syllabi, which prepares them for the academically rigorous and internationally recognized IB Diploma Programme in Years 12-13. Our global citizens of over 15 nationalities immerse themselves in a truly multi-cultural and bilingual learning environment that wholly incorporates both Eastern and Western cultures.
YCIS Qingdao has a dedicated team of global educators working in partnership to provide a well-rounded, holistic learning experience for every subject and age group. Our education model provides opportunities in each classroom for students to hone skills in research, critical thinking, analysis, creativity, problem solving, and collaboration. The ultimate objective is to equip our students with the ability to succeed in an ever-changing globalised world throughout their adulthood.
At the root of YCIS's philosophy is the blend of Eastern and Western cultures. The real essence of a culture must not just be understood but truly valued. To this end, our Western and Chinese Co-Principals jointly lead the school. They represent the union of cultures by working closely alongside one another. In addition, our unique co-teaching model is implemented throughout Early Childhood and Primary year levels, to best support the development of bilingual and cross-cultural skills. Experiencing China field trips, moreover, take students beyond the classroom to gain hands-on cultural and historical experience as well as comprehensive knowledge about their host country.
Co-curricular activities are offered to inspire creativity and development of strong moral character. These include YCIS Seeds of Hope activities, communication and technology programmes, research and problem-solving clubs, sports and athletic competitions, applied arts exhibitions, music and drama performances, and much more.
At YCIS Qingdao, we offer students the possibilities to make a tangible and positive impact on the world. If you are moving to Qingdao, please don't hesitate to reach out to us - we would love to welcome you into our family!
