Set within the rich cultural context of Austria, the American International School Vienna is one of the top international schools in the country. Founded in 1959, AISV today serves around 800 students, representing 80 countries, from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 (International Baccalaureate (IB) or American diploma). During the 2023-2024 school year, AISV celebrates 47 years as an IB World School. AISV has been an IB World School since 1977, just nine years after the IB Diploma Programme began. Since its inception at the school, the programme has shown impressive growth. In 1977, its first year of the IB programme, AISV had 10 IB Diploma candidates. Currently, AISV has 55 IB Diploma candidates. Perhaps most striking is the massive growth in the percentage of AISV seniors graduating with an IB Diploma: 18% in 1977 compared to a projected 79% in 2023-24. AISV was the 72nd IB school to be authorized, now out of over 5,500 schools worldwide. AISV is one of the most experienced IB schools in the region and the single most experienced IB school in Austria.
