Aim. Succeed. Become more. The American School of Milan (ASM) is an independent, nonprofit college preparatory day school with a state-of-the-art campus located south of Milan. Founded in 1962, ASM has been educating international students from more than 50 countries for more than 50 years. The school's mission is to provide a modern and rigorous education for international students to excel in the changing world of tomorrow.

ASM offers a student-centered, American-style education that encourages children to develop their full potential, achieve personal excellence and become global citizens committed to lifelong learning. We embrace the IB learner profile along with our school values of accountability, respect and empowerment. Technology is a key focus at ASM and an integral part of student learning.

Student Body and Faculty. Current school enrollment is 830 students and there are 93 full-time faculty employed. High school enrollment is 260 students representing 36 nationalities. Our teachers are talented, highly educated, experienced and, above all, inspiring leaders. The school encourages faculty continued learning through a substantial professional growth fund.

IB Diploma courses. ASM was authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 1983. Students are also awarded the American School High School Diploma upon graduation. All junior and senior level courses are taught at the International Baccalaureate level and course offerings include English A1 or Italian A1 Language and Literature (HL/SL); Italian B/French B/Spanish B (SL/HL/Ab initio); History/Psychology/Economics (SL/HL) or Environmental Systems and Societies (SL); Biology/Chemistry/Physics (SL/HL) or Environmental Systems and Societies (SL); Mathematics (SL/HL) or Mathematical Studies (SL) and Visual Art/ Film/Music (SL/HL).

IB Diploma scores. ASM student IB results have consistently exceeded world averages in terms of pass rate and average points. All juniors and seniors are encouraged to sit the exams and pursue the full Diploma. In 2017, ASM students achieved a 36 average score and went on to attend leading universities throughout the world, above all in the US, UK and Canada.

Co-curricular activities. ASM has an extensive 9-acre campus located next to a golf course, tennis facilities and a swimming pool. Co-curricular activities include a thriving Model United Nations, National Honor Society, ABRSM music exams, Wind orchestra, rock and jazz band, varsity sports, Yearbook, chess and rock climbing club.
