FLAIR, DISCIPLINE, ACADEMIC RIGOUR

Set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland, Bromsgrove School caters for 1300 pupils with over 400 pupils in the hugely popular sixth form. Main intake is at ages 7, 11, 13 and 16, with international pupils joining at any of these stages.

Bromsgrove takes girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 18 in the hope of nurturing compassionate people who change the world for the better. International Baccalaureate and A level results place Bromsgrove in the first division. These impressive results combined with a massive sporting and extra-curricular programme means that at Bromsgrove breadth and quality are not mutually exclusive.

Life at Bromsgrove is dynamic. Great boarding schools offer pupils a home, not a place to sleep after work. People, not systems, must come first. The houses are different, as boarding houses in the best schools should be, but there are core values and structures shared by all. Houseparents are resident in the boarding houses with their own families. They are academic staff and are supported by a housemother. Bromsgrove boarders see family life going on around them. Each house has a dedicated tutor team, doing day and evening duties on a rota basis. Support, encouragement and trust are the watchwords.

A mix of over 50 different nationalities makes Bromsgrove vibrant. Bromsgrove School has an active International Students Department with full-time teachers who provide pastoral and academic support, specialising in the particular needs of the international pupils in the school. The department focuses lessons on the development of English language skills. International pupils are prepared for internationally recognised tests of English as an Additional Language. Bromsgrove results are outstanding: the IB Diploma average score was 39.3 in 2022.

Bromsgrove offers a unique weekend programme, covering a huge range of timetabled options from exclusively academic sessions to school trips. All staff work Saturday and the Sunday boarders' programme is extensive.

Admission for international students is by entrance test and, where possible, interview. Prospective students and their families are encouraged to visit. The Admissions Director has an extensive programme of international visits each year and will always try to meet prospective pupils in their own countries when she visits.
