EF Academy International Boarding Schools opens a world of opportunities for high school students by providing them with a superior secondary school education, thorough university preparation and access to a future that knows no borders. We believe in every student’s ability to succeed and we empower them to do so through our renowned curricula, as well as quality relationships with teachers and mentors. With a student body made up of 75 nationalities, multilingualism and intercultural exchange are built into every course and our students live the IB ethos every single day.
This IB World School is located approximately 40 minutes north of Manhattan. EF Academy's secure campus offers 100 acres of landscaped grounds, running trails and playing fields in the quiet suburban town of Thornwood. Our facilities include a premier science center, fully-equipped gym, auditorium, spacious classrooms and comfortable on-campus dormitories.
Instruction and guidance at EF Academy New York is highly personal. Students can follow the IGCSE program in their first two years of secondary school and the IB Diploma in the following two years. Alternatively, students can follow the US High School Diploma for all four years of high school. All students who successfully complete their high school studies with EF Academy New York are awarded a nationally recognized New York State High School Diploma.
EF Academy New York graduates have been accepted to universities such as Harvard University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, New York University and Rochester Institute of Technology, and other business and engineering schools as well. Some of our artistically talented students have been accepted to Rhode Island School of Design and Parsons School of Design.
Support and Guidance
Each student at EF Academy New York is assigned a student success counselor who helps them select the right courses, supports them with school work and comforts them if they ever feel homesick. In addition to receiving one-on-one support from teachers, students also work together with university advisors who help them research and apply to the universities that best suit their goals and interests.
We encourage students to participate in co-curricular activities, such as special-interest clubs, academic competitions, varsity sports and community service opportunities. We believe that by getting involved in student life, students can make lifelong friends, pursue their passions and gain experience that will benefit their college essays and personal statements.
