Fettes College – A place to live. A place to learn. A place to grow.
Fettes College is a leading co-educational boarding and day school, the top IB school in Scotland and among the top 12 IB schools in the UK. Fettes is housed in a striking turreted building on a stunning 100-acre wooded campus, within walking distance of central Edinburgh, combining the advantages of a city school with the privacy and space of a rural setting.
Following the English curriculum of GCSEs and offering a dual pathway of A Levels and IB in the Sixth Form, the school has a strong global perspective. This, together with a full boarding ethos, attracts students locally and internationally.
The IB is a popular choice, with over 100 students studying the IBDP. We are proud of our academic achievements, with an average of 38 points in the IB Diploma and a third of the 2025 cohort achieving 40 points or more. 82% of 2025 IB leavers gained places at their first choice of university in the UK and worldwide, with over 10% going to Oxbridge.
"Our students will leave the school knowing themselves, looking out for others, capable of thinking critically and ready to make a positive mark on their rapidly changing world. They will be bold and visionary yet compassionate, with a global perspective and ready to embrace the opportunities of the future." Helen Harrison, Head.
Innovation and creativity are central to the school’s ethos and include initiatives such as the 'This Will Be My World' Sixth Form lecture series, which brings in experts to help students develop well-informed opinions about the wider world. A bespoke Higher Education and award-winning Careers programme, delivered by a dedicated team, supports students in making a successful transition to the next stage of their lives.
The school embraces its Scottish traditions, with pipers and marching bands contributing to its unique atmosphere. Famous for educating the fictional James Bond, film composer Lorne Balfe, Olympian Jake Wightman, celebrated author Elizabeth Macneal, and former UK Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair, Fettesians have a strong track record of making a meaningful contribution to society.
