Foxcroft Academy, home of the Ponies, is an independent high school founded in 1823 on the principle that knowledge is power. Foxcroft Academy equips graduates with the life skills needed for success in college, career, and community by inspiring, engaging, and empowering students to become informed and active global citizens. Foxcroft Academy values the attributes that have been a source of strength throughout our history: the tight bonds that tie school to community, a cohesive student body with an abiding school pride, a professional staff committed to student achievement and lifelong learning, and an appreciation for the natural environment and safety of our rural location. Whether our students come from central Maine or from around the world, we celebrate diversity and pledge to maintain our focus on educational excellence for all.

As we celebrate our bicentennial (1823-2023), Foxcroft Academy exists as one of only nine remaining private academies (from an original 122) that serve the public trust as part of its mission. Today, Foxcroft Academy is proud to have an enrollment of more than 400 day and boarding students from 16 Maine communities and over 20 different nations. Students at Foxcroft Academy can choose from more than 150 different course offerings, including college preparatory, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and more. This extensive curriculum represents the core liberal arts requirements, college preparatory courses, advanced placement courses, vocational/technical courses, and an alternative education program.

Your success as a student is paramount to our mission and vision as an independent school. In addition to inside-the-classroom learning, Foxcroft Academy has plenty of co-curricular activities that you can be a part of. We offer over 20 interscholastic varsity sports playing under the auspices of the Maine Principals Association consisting of sports such as football, field hockey, soccer (boys & girls), golf, cross-country, basketball (boys & girls), wrestling, track & field, baseball, softball, and more. We have dozens of clubs and organizations for students to work with and belong to, such as Key Club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Latin Club, Student Council, and so much more!

Foxcroft Academy has a 125-acre campus consisting of a main academic building, gymnasium, an art center, an industrial technology building, several athletic fields (football field with track, soccer, field hockey, baseball, and softball), two weight//fitness rooms, a full-size indoor field house, and an indoor ice arena, all within walking distance of the dormitories. We also have access to an indoor pool at the local YMCA. All of our facilities are well-maintained, and our students have access to them multiple times a week.

Being a boarding student at Foxcroft Academy means you have access to a world-class curriculum, a wide variety of offerings, and a caring and supportive faculty and staff, all in the safe environment Northern New England offers.
