Foxcroft Academy, home of the Ponies, is an independent high school established in 1823 based on the belief that knowledge is power. Foxcroft Academy prepares graduates with essential life skills for success in college, careers, and community by inspiring, engaging, and empowering students to become informed and active global citizens. Foxcroft Academy is one of only nine remaining private academies (out of an original 122) that serve the public trust as part of its mission. Today, Foxcroft Academy is proud to have an enrollment of more than 400 day and boarding students from 16 Maine communities and over 20 different nations. Students at Foxcroft Academy can choose from more than 150 course options, including college preparatory, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and more. This extensive curriculum covers core liberal arts requirements, college preparatory courses, advanced placement classes, vocational/technical programs, and an alternative education track. Your success as a student is central to our mission and vision as an independent school.
In addition to classroom learning, Foxcroft Academy offers many co-curricular activities you can participate in. We provide over 20 interscholastic varsity sports under the Maine Principals Association, including sports like football, field hockey, soccer (boys & girls), golf, cross-country, basketball (boys & girls), wrestling, track & field, baseball, softball, and more. We also have numerous clubs and organizations for students to join and be part of, such as Key Club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Latin Club, Student Council, and many others!
Foxcroft Academy has a 125-acre campus that includes a main academic building, gymnasium, art center, industrial technology building, several athletic fields (football with track, soccer, field hockey, baseball, and softball), two weight/fitness rooms, a full-size indoor field house, and an indoor ice arena, all within walking distance of the dormitories. We also have access to an indoor pool at the local fitness and community center. All of our facilities are well-maintained, and students are able to use them multiple times a week.
