Gimnasio Británico is located near the town of Chía, known for its warm-hearted community and exceptional climate. We are a day school of approximately 1500 students between the ages of 2.5 and 16.
Our students are nurtured in mind and body in accordance with the highest educational standards. To achieve this goal, we have created a living/learning environment that remains unsurpassed in the field of private education. Beyond intellectual growth, our goal is to instill essential values such as love, compassion, respect, and integrity in each student.
Gimnasio Británico is the first officially recognized trilingual school in Colombia and this has led us to offer academically rigorous programs for preschool, elementary, junior high and high school that are coordinated to provide integrated curricula in a trilingual education in Spanish, English, and French, laying the foundation for a lifelong learning pattern that has become our hallmark.
Comfortable classrooms meet the needs of our small groups of students and create an effective ambience for both teaching and learning. Science and language laboratories are modern (high tech) and well-equipped, ensuring that students can progress comfortably and proficiently at their own pace. Also onsite is a complete research library with literary and didactic materials. Gimnasio Británico currently fosters relationships with national and international public libraries dedicated to enhancing the learning process in the evolution of creativity and independence of thought.
The Gimnasio Británico students excel academically and position themselves for acceptance to the finest colleges or universities of their choice, both nationally and internationally where English or French is spoken, due to high scores on national and international exams. When they begin their undergraduate studies, they are equipped to succeed in the classroom, manage their time efficiently, and to fit in socially.
Students follow a challenging liberal arts program to develop skills in critical thinking, communication and learning. Technology tools and writing are incorporated throughout the curriculum to enhance research, idea development and presentation skills. Students are encouraged to be inquisitive and open to growth, thus discovering and exploring new ideas and issues. Current IB Diploma Programme subjects offered are: Spanish A1, English A2, French B, philosophy, biology and mathematics SL, with further subjects planned to be made available shortly.
