Greengates School, is a member of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools. It has been held in high esteem for over 70 years. Its British style international education caters to 1000 students, aged 3-18. The student body is largely made up from the diplomatic and business communities of Mexico City.
International-mindedness and cultural diversity are experienced daily with the participation of over 45 nationalities in our community.
The mission statement of Greengates School holds as true as ever today as it did when it was written in 1951. We encourage our students to develop character and self-discipline, while fostering respect and reflection in a challenging learning environment that honours individual differences. In Greengates we act with integrity and seek to motivate our students to become socially responsible citizens while achieving academic excellence.
As a British international school English is the language of instruction, from the age of six all students also study Spanish. Support in both languages is given as required. Furthermore, French is taught in the Secondary School and can be further studied at the levels of the IGCSE and the IB Diploma. Added to this, Korean and Japanese are also available as study options in the school’s delivery of the diploma.
Graduates from Greengates attend some of the most prestigious universities in the world. Of the 2022 cohort 24% are attending universities in the USA, with acceptances to institutions like Stanford University, University of California San Diego, University of California Berkeley, Boston University and many others. Additionally, another 22% of the year group are studying in Canadian top universities like the University of Toronto, University of British Columbia and McGill University. Offers were also received from University of Bristol, University of Edinburgh, University of Manchester, and many other institutions in the UK. We also have students attending prestigious universities around the globe like Waseda University in Japan, Yonsei University in Korea, Erasmus University Rotterdam and University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands among others. Our students also cumulatively received scholarship offers totalling over $2M USD.
The teaching body in Greengates is comprised of almost 110 teachers from a wide variety of backgrounds. Alongside the many British teachers, highly qualified and experienced educators come from across the world. Teachers bring a variety of different skills and modern methods to the classroom and these approaches to teaching are central to the students' success.
The Primary School is fully accredited in the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) as well as in the International Primary Curriculum (IPC); with recognition given to the school's mastering in its practice of the curriculums. The Secondary School prepares students for the International General Certificate of Education (IGCSE). The IGCSE two-year course is studied prior to embarking on the IB Diploma Programme. The Secondary School has been authorised to offer the IB Diploma Programme since 1986. In each of the last five years the pass rate has been 98-100%, with overall point scores being consistently well above the world average.
The Greengates campus covers an area of 20,000 square metres, with purpose-built facilities including two libraries, nine sciences laboratories, six computer media centres, four art studios, a theatre, an auditorium, a large gymnasium, basketball courts, an indoor swimming pool, an organic learning garden used by all students, a cafeteria, an adventure playground designed by the famous architect Javier Senosiain and an all-weather field.
Enrolment is open throughout the year, depending on availability. We always welcome enquiries and visits from prospective families.
