Desheng School (International) (DSI), a global centre of excellence that promotes holistic education, is part of a K–12 education group located in the centre of China's Greater Bay Area and serves over 10,000 students. Established in 2011, DSI is dedicated to nurturing independent, lifelong learners who strive for excellence and serve with compassion.

From Local Vision to Global Education

Over the past two decades, Desheng School has maintained a strong reputation for academic excellence locally. In building upon this legacy, Mr. Chen Jiye, our founding chairman of Desheng Education Group, was determined to provide a world-class education and global opportunities to local students, preparing them for greater pursuits in life, thus opening DSI.

With the support of visionary leaders, DSI has an energetic and dedicated teaching team that leads, nurtures, and inspires students, fostering a community that values innovation and collaboration. Our faculty is composed of teachers from over 13 countries. Many have made Shunde their long-term residence, serving as role models who are committed to excellence and continuously advancing our teaching practices with the school's support.

Our dedication to professional growth shines through initiatives such as the DSI Education Conference, where our teachers showcase their action research and innovative teaching strategies rooted in our local context. Through constant reflection and refinement, our teachers cultivate a safe and supportive learning environment for students.

Comprehensive Curriculum and Diverse Pathways for Lifelong Learning

We offer a balanced and comprehensive curriculum designed to cultivate lifelong learning skills. The school provides a Foundation Programme (an integration of Chinese National Curriculum and school-based international curriculum) for Grades 7 and 8, Cambridge IGCSE for Grades 9 and 10, and IB Diploma Programme or A Levels for Grades 11 and 12. These diverse pathways allow students with different learning needs and goals to flourish at DSI. A wide range of subjects, including Theatrical and Cinematic Arts, Arts and Design, Music, Computer Science, and AI, allows for both academic and talent exploration.

In addition to core subjects, we offer a school-based curriculum that includes bridging programmes to help students from the national curriculum build their Approaches to Learning (ATL) and improve their English proficiency in the international curriculum. The curriculum also includes courses designed to strengthen research and transdisciplinary thinking, promote active learning, and explore the philosophy of disciplines.

Beyond academics, we are committed to fostering an English-rich environment, through activities such as Principal Dialogues and student-led Assemblies, to enhance effective communication and confidence across our multicultural community.

Experiential Programmes provide real-world, interdisciplinary learning across areas such as history, cross-curricular research, problem-solving, service learning, and vocational exploration. Some outcomes of this programme are students' sustained projects in the communities visited.

Developing Future Leaders Who Make a Positive Difference in Society

At DSI, we recognize the uniqueness of every student and offer holistic support for their growth. Our Pastoral Care and Career Guidance (PCCG) programme focuses on students' personal, emotional, social, and vocational development. Additionally, our Careers, Opportunities, and Guidance (COG) team and the Guidance Counselling Office (GCO) provide counselling for individuals and families, helping students set meaningful future goals and nurture well-being.

Student life at DSI is vibrant and inspiring. Student-led initiatives, such as our Co-curricular Activities, enable students to explore their passions and develop leadership skills. Our CCAs have won regional, national and international recognitions, impacting our community and beyond. Sabbatical Week empowers students to design, lead and teach courses, sharing their expertise across the school community. The House System builds camaraderie and school spirit, while the Sports Clubs offer weekly competitive and recreational sports. Early involvement in service learning enables students to plan and implement CAS projects, including service at local centres for autistic children, elderly homes, rural village primary schools, fundraising events, arts galas, and more. These initiatives, guided by the Student Governing Council, develop empathy, initiative, and leadership among our learners.

Global Citizenship and Future Pathways

DSI guides its graduates to leading universities, including Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Toronto, the University of Melbourne, and many more. Impressively, 100% of DSI graduates are admitted to universities ranked among the top 100 globally.

DSI alumni continue to make meaningful contributions to society. They excel in fields such as biomedicine, tackling incurable diseases, and become community leaders who support underprivileged groups. They remain an integral part of the DSI family, serving as role models for students at DSI and creating a lasting impact on both local and global communities.

Looking Forward

As we look toward the future, DSI remains committed to fostering Respect, Integrity, Self-discipline, and Excellence. We believe every DSI graduate carries forward a piece of our collective mission – to be a scholar, a leader, and a global citizen.
