The High School Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University (known as JDFZ in Chinese Abbreviation) is one of Shanghai's most renowned and competitive public high schools, situated in northeastern Shanghai.
JDFZ established its International Curriculum Center in 2011 and got the IB authorization for the Diploma Programme in 2012. The first cohort of 65 students graduated in 2014, and the school has grown to nearly 350 students from the academic year of 2020-2022. In 2021 the International Curriculum Center marked its 10th anniversary.
Students are mainly from in and around Shanghai, and also from the neighbouring provinces across China. The vast majority of our students are boarders. Students undergo a foundation year at Grade 10 with CAIE IGCSE before being promoted into IBDP. The graduates have earned outstanding offers of admissions from the top Universities, mainly in the United States, Canada, and the UK, such as Yale, Columbia, Chicago, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Cornell, Dartmouth, Toronto, McGill, Oxford and Cambridge.
JDFZ IB has an excellent result in its short history as an IB World School. Students achieved the final IBDP grades above the World average, nearly in every subject being offered at JDFZ. Continuous success comes from the hard work of the students and passionate teachers. Staff are dedicated, enthusiastic, and professional, hailing from both China and Overseas. It is an English medium school, and all lessons are in English except Group 1 Chinese A, and TOK in both Chinese and English.
One of the core elements of school ethos is the balance between love for one's mother country and the growth of an international outlook. This thread is woven into all subjects. The IB Learner Profile is the core in regular discussions, teaching, events, and activities. JDFZ also strives to utilize IB concepts to promote the educational reform of the national curriculum.
