Introduction

Hout Bay International School is more than a school - it is a community of diverse individuals and families; a centre of academic, cultural and sporting excellence; a home away from home and a family for all.

Enter any one of our classrooms and we're sure you'll be impressed by the enthusiasm, confidence and creativity of our students. Thanks to our exceptional teaching staff and the International Baccalaureate curriculum, we help children and young people to become inquisitive learners who ask challenging questions, critically reflect on topics, develop research skills and learn how to learn.

This not only equips our students with the academic results, necessary skills and qualities to study at the world's most prestigious universities, but also the opportunity for them to actualise their personal potential and embody the character traits of the IB Learner Profile.

We also recognise the importance of the world outside the classroom. Service is an integral component of our curriculum, instilling in our students a commitment to give back on a local, national and global level. Our extensive co-curricular programme emphasises a holistic approach to learning to ensure our students leave the school as well-rounded individuals ready to play their part in society.

Facilities

Our campus is cradled between beautiful mountains on three sides with the sparkling Atlantic Ocean on the other; and houses the following facilities: 35 Classrooms (each equipped with Wi-Fi and Data Projectors). In 2019 our campus was enhanced with the completion of our brand new Early Years and Junior Primary building which also houses our newest addition, our Nursery Class.

Extra-Curricular Programme

Our students enjoy an extensive Extra-Curricular programme exposing them to various sports, creative arts, dance, martial arts, community service activities, all contributing to their 'Whole Child' educational experience and embracing the concept of Creativity, Activity & Service (CAS).
