Institut Montana Zugerberg was founded in 1926 by Dr Max Husmann and his humanist vision continues to guide us to help every student find their own individual path and thrive.
Learning, Personal Growth, Community
The combination of small class sizes and individual support fosters a familial atmosphere that builds up enthusiasm for learning and motivation to excel. Our international school community is highly diverse yet also promotes typically Swiss values, such as a strong work-ethic, respect for each other and dedication to achieving excellence.
We are a fully accredited Swiss international boarding school and since 1987 an official IB World School.
A central location in a natural setting
Our 60 acres campus, at an altitude of 950m, offers seclusion and contact with nature while benefitting from its proximity to Switzerland's major cities and the manifold opportunities they offer (15 minutes by public transport from the city of Zug, 55 minutes from Zurich airport).
The Pursuit of Excellence
Students have the opportunity to choose the academic program that suits their interests and aspirations. Our offers (grades 1-12) draw from leading Swiss and international educational programs and are carefully structured to ensure the highest standard of quality. Bilingual Elementary and Secondary School, IGCSE programme (9-10), IB Program (11-12), Swiss Gymnasium (9-12).
Home at School
Life at Montana is unique: we breath mountain air, drink our own spring water and eat fresh locally-sourced food that accommodates all dietary restrictions. Our daily routine promotes a strong work ethic while maintaining a well-balanced, active lifestyle.
Our campus is equipped with everything a modern teenager needs to live and learn comfortably and the location encourages outdoor activity throughout the seasons.
We want our students to grow into confident adults who will make the most of their life. Our extracurricular activities encourage to pursue unique interests, whether those be athletic, intellectual, cultural or social in nature. Montana students participate in athletic competitions, Model United Nations conferences, entrepreneurship programs, theatre productions and more.
A Student Council actively influences all aspects of boarding life with the school's full support and our students contribute to the world at large with charity projects both within Switzerland and around the world.
Montana for Life
We continue to generate a vibrant community that highlights the strong connections we built at school. From scientists to politicians and film directors, our alumni are a diverse group of passionate people who share the same background and values.
