Mission:

"We all want to learn more;

We all do it in different ways;

We all have fun learning;

We all help."

– ISB Student

ISB is a private, not-for-profit, co-educational day school established in 1979. Our students and teachers come from all corners of the world, creating a diverse community. We live our Mission every day in every area of the school, as it reminds us to appreciate our learning differences, help each other out, and in our quest for excellence, find a way to make it fun and engaging. Here at ISB, we firmly believe that true education neither ends nor begins in the classroom alone. As our students explore the world beyond the classroom, our well-qualified teachers and staff instill a skill set that will help them remain lifelong learners, no matter where they live and what they do in the world. That is why our Mission begins with the simple phrase, "We all want to learn more." We live in a rapidly changing world, thus, education must lead that change. Investing in professional development at all levels to stay at the forefront of educational trends is our priority to prepare our students to embrace challenge and shape a better world.

Campuses

The campuses of ISB, located on the outskirts of the city of Basel on the edge of the Swiss countryside, provide students with world-class learning opportunities. An efficient public transport system and convenient pedestrian and bicycle paths ensure easy access to ISB campuses. Age-appropriate and supportive learning environments encourage students' potential and nurture their talents at all stages of intellectual, physical and emotional development, providing them with the means to grow and thrive.

Inclusion

One of the guiding statements in our Mission is "We all do it in different ways." ISB understands that all children learn differently and possess individual strengths and areas for growth. ISB embraces diversity, not only in race or culture, but in the learning profiles of our students. ISB serves learners by aligning student needs with appropriate resources and support by qualified and experienced teachers and staff.

Academic Results

In 2018, 107 students took the IB Diploma exams and achieved a 99% pass rate and an overall average of 35 points with 64% of students achieving 35 points or more. ISB graduates have successfully transferred to top universities around the world.
