Location

International School of Belgium (ISBe) is a private, fee paying, not for profit International School which is located in the small town of Aartselaar, about 10km south of the city of Antwerp. While the school has strong ties to the local Aartselaar community, our student population comes from Antwerp, Mechelen and Brussels.

Internationalism

While English is the main language of instruction, Belgium is a multilingual country and as such, ISBe supports the importance of learning the host country's languages of Dutch and French. Additional foreign languages can be offered through an online programme.

Demographics

As a small school from preschool to Class 12, students experience a very personalised education. We are an international community with a diverse student population representing more than 30 nationalities. Our faculty is also very diverse and draws from countries all over the world.

Activities and Experiences

Students are afforded access to a range of opportunities to enhance their learning programme:

  • sporting teams and tournaments
  • drama/music productions and art exhibitions
  • educational excursions, residential trips and the
  • Duke of Edinburgh award scheme and MUN conferences
  • leadership roles through student council and the House system
  • community events
  • extensive co-curricular programme after school

University Pathways

The IBDP provides the perfect passport for university entry worldwide. Commonly our students attend first choice universities in the UK, Belgium, The Netherlands and Asia. However, our alumni have attended universities in the USA and many other European countries.

We have a university and careers counsellor available to senior school students who advises them on and assists them with university choices, applications and processes. We also organise a variety of university fairs and talks each year to ensure that students are exposed to a range of options. Students also get a chance to explore the world of employment through our internship programme.
