ISS educates to make a difference through accredited academic programmes led by our team of highly motivated, experienced, and caring educators. The school was founded in 1981 by visionary Singaporean politician Chan Chee Seng as an inclusive school offering an international curriculum serving a diverse student population. Our full membership with the International Baccalaureate (IB), accreditation by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and certified by Singapore's Edutrust affirms and celebrates our inclusive vision and high quality education. Most recently ISS received an excellent report from these accrediting agencies, recognising the strength of our mission, our commitment to student wellness, multiple student support programmes, the development of global citizens, and strong academic Programmes.

At ISS, academic rigor is enriched by our focus on student well-being. In keeping with our inclusive philosophy, we continue to maintain small class sizes to ensure optimum engagement and support student success. Our special hilltop campus, set in a nature reserve, is a safe haven where students learn in a tranquil environment that is optimal for learning and encourages creativity, high-level thinking, and innovation, including opportunities to engage in authentic biological and environmental studies.

In addition, we have in place a unique personalised learning programme which is developed over several years using research from the world of psychology and current thinking on how students best learn. Each student has a profile that tracks their performance which includes internal assessments, standardised tests, community engagement and anecdotal evidence.

As an integral part of this personalised learning programme, we use this data to identify teaching strategies, student pathways, and subject offerings for future years. We believe in encouraging our students to customise their own learning journey, empowering them to be independent learners who can navigate the world with confidence. Frequent dialogue with teachers and parents allows for reflection, strengthens the parent-school partnership, celebrates progress, and enhances student self-esteem and creative thinking. Since introducing our personalised learning programme in 2019, our IBDP average has increased by 2 - 3 points.

This year, ISS students achieved a 100% pass rate at the IB Diploma level: 15% above the worldwide average. 96% of students achieved a bilingual diploma (well above the worldwide average of 27.64%) and the average points achieved was 35; three points above the global average. These excellent results place ISS in the top 10 schools offering IBDP in Singapore.
