Jerudong International School (JIS) founded in 1997 is in the small, beautiful country of Brunei, on the island of Borneo. JIS is a thriving school with 1625 students from 55 countries, 3-18 years in age. It is a leading British international school in South East Asia preparing students for I/GCSEs, A levels and the IB Diploma. The IB Diploma Programme at JIS

Students study in small classes (5-15 students) with up to 20 subjects on offer across the six IB Group areas. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is taught in lectures, small group discussions and supplemented by lunchtime lectures from outside speakers, staff and students. The IBDP programme at JIS is a student centred programme designed to enable students to be actively engaged in academic subjects but also thoroughly grounded in world events so they can really make a difference. Outstanding IB Diploma Results

In 2018, JIS IB students average score was 37. World Average IB Score was 29.8, so 94% of JIS students exceeded the world average. 36% of JIS IB Diploma students achieved 40 points or more. In 2017, two JIS students achieved the IB Diploma 'perfect score' of 45 points (Only 218 students globally achieved this). JIS average IB score was 35.1 and world average score was 29.95 in 2017.

University Destinations

A specialist team of Higher Education advisors guide and prepare students for ACTs, SATS, IELTS and University applications. 2018 graduate destinations include UK - Cambridge, Imperial College, King's College, Durham University, University of St Andrew's. USA - UCLA, University of New York - Tisch, Brown University. CANADA - University of Toronto, UBC. AUSTRALIA - Melbourne, ANU. IB Diploma students also received a number of Scholarships including one student who was awarded the prestigious Pearson Scholarship by the University of Toronto.


JIS is an IB World School; a British School Overseas (BSO), an international HMC School. A leading member of Federation of British Schools in Asia (FOBISIA), Council of British International Schools (COBIS). A silver level ECO School, JIS is also a certified provider of the International Award (Duke of Edinburgh) young leaders programme.

Teaching Staff

JIS has approximately 200 highly qualified teachers primarily from the UK but also Australia, New Zealand, France and Brunei. The IBDP is staffed by highly experienced teachers.

The Campus

JIS facilities are exceptional. The purpose built, fully WiFi and ICT networked school uses 120 acres of its 300 site on a single coastal campus - a short drive from the capital city. Students use the Arts Centre (725 seat auditorium, dance studio, black box theatre, rehearsal rooms), 26 Science laboratories, extensive music faculty, art, design and technology studios, libraries and traditional classrooms as well as the 50m and 25m swimming pools, 3 sports halls, basketball /tennis courts and 3 soccer/rugby pitches. The boarding facilities are purpose designed and built for the community of 280 boarding students.

Co-curricular Programme

Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) builds on an extensive co-curricular programme with over 300 activities including a mature International Award programme, Model United Nations (MUN), ECO JIS, Diving, Sports and Performing Arts. Students are involved in projects locally; also Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Northern India.
