K.R. Mangalam Global School was launched in 2017. The day school is centrally located in the heart of South Delhi. K.R. Mangalam understands the changing needs of education in the 21st century and takes on the challenge of giving students varied learning experiences and opportunities to help them to be competent, thinking, moral individuals. Education at K.R. Mangalam is truly a three-way process among the school, students and parents. Learning initiated in school is connected through the home and family to live in the real world, validated and internalized by living it in the real world in real situations and brought back to school to be built upon.
The curriculum includes the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation of Geneva. The IB school applies the Multiple Intelligences approach, developed by Dr. Howard Gardner from Harvard University. The current student strength of the school is approximately 50 with representation from multiple nationalities.
Ranked 3rd amongst the top IB schools in Delhi, K.R Mangalam Global School is located on a 5-acre site and is equipped with an environmental-friendly modern architecture with a world-class academic and sporting infrastructure. The school has created a benchmark in the purposeful use of technology in school education with universal radio networking and the use of interactive whiteboards & projection screens to integrate information communication technology (ICT) with classroom learning.
The Primary stage of education is immensely important for every child, as it is here that the foundations of literacy, numeric reflection and thinking skills are laid down for the future. At K.R. Mangalam we aim to nurture skilled, confident children who are inquirers both within the classroom and in the world beyond. We address every facet of their existence - social, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual - in addition to academics.
The curriculum has been devised keeping in mind the best research and practices across a whole range of national/ international systems. To facilitate best development in every child we keep our class sizes manageable and student teacher ratio healthy.
The students work in ever changing groups to encourage learning from each other as well as allowing children to process other opinions and to develop listening skills & critical thinking abilities. This does not limit their learning to the teachers’ ability alone but encourages "out of the box thinking" as that is a skill required by students in the future. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on intercultural understanding and having both a global and a local outlook. The learner profile is built around ten key attributes, which include being open-minded, principled, caring and reflective. 'Each of these is focused on developing global citizens who can go out and make the world a better place.'
For K.R. Mangalam, what is also important is the way in which children are encouraged to identify their own levels of challenge and take ownership of their learning. We work with children to reflect on their own learning and to be able to self-select tasks based on the level of challenge because children learn most when they are working in 'the challenge zone' where the work is at the optimal level for them to make progress.
