In the heart of the Swiss Alps, La Garenne combines rigorous academic programmes with multiple outdoor activities. More than 75 years after we welcomed our first children, LGIS is now home to 170 young people aged from 4 to 18 from 40 countries.

Our Guiding Principles include Care, Compassion, Inquiry, Responsibility, Innovation and Collaboration, reflecting our holistic, child-centred approach, alongside traditional Swiss values.

English is the official language in school and every student is encouraged to master French. Following completion of their IB studies or the High School Diploma, La Garenne graduates have moved onto leading universities and hotel and business schools across the world.

Our community is centred on an authentic Swiss chalet from which the school takes its name: La Garenne. It has a refectory and cosy accommodation for our youngest boarders. Chalet Beau Site is home to students aged from 11 to 13. Their rooms are en-suite with spectacular views. Beau Site also has a dedicated art workshop and music and recreational spaces.

Chalet Le Roc has stylish two-person suites for our senior students, as well as classrooms, a gym, a dance studio, an art studio and a welcoming dining room and reception area. Next door, the ski lift enables ski-in, ski-out opportunities in winter.

Two further buildings complete the campus:

    * 'Academia': for students aged 8-13. It has an airy library with mountain views, a science lab, a music studio and classrooms, all designed to inspire creativity and promote learning.

    * 'Millennium': our new Early Years Centre for Reception, and Years 1 and 2. The classrooms are organised for the very special needs of these young children and have direct access to the garden and play areas.

Sports include football, aerobics, padel, tennis, athletics, swimming, karate, golf and much more. Naturally in winter, the focus is on snow sports with skiing and snowboarding as part of the curriculum. La Garenne has its own ski team and competes regularly against other Swiss schools. Creativity comes with art, drama, debating, music, singing and dance. Beyond the classroom, there are expeditions, cultural visits and charity initiatives. Our demanding overseas trips enable students to complement their studies with IB Service as Action projects.

La Garenne International School is one of a kind. Its pioneering approach to boarding education is known and respected across the world. Owned and managed by the Méan family, LGIS retains its unique family atmosphere.
