Set in the heart of the Swiss Alps, La Garenne combines a rigorous academic programme with multiple and diverse outdoor activities. More than 75 years after we welcomed our first children, LGIS is now home to 150 young people aged from 5 to 18 from 40 countries.

Our priority is that each child should be happy, safe, healthy, valued and cherished. Our motto "Be Happy, Never, Never, Never Give Up" reflects our holistic, child-centred approach, alongside traditional Swiss values of respect, politeness, tolerance and responsibility.

English is the official language in school and our long history of bilingualism means every student is also encouraged to master French.

Following completion of their IB studies or the High School Diploma, La Garenne graduates go on to leading universities and hotel and business schools across the world.

Our tight-knit community is centred on an authentic Swiss chalet from which the school takes its name: La Garenne. It includes a refectory and cosy accommodation for our youngest boarders.

Chalet Beau Site is home to students aged from 11 to 13. All rooms are en-suite with spectacular views. Beau Site also has a dedicated art workshop and a multi-purpose music and exercise space.

Chalet Le Roc has stylish two-person suites for our older students, as well as classrooms, a gym, a dance studio, a stunning art room and a welcoming refectory and reception area. Next door, the ski lift enables ski-in, ski-out opportunities in winter.

Two further buildings complete the campus:

    * 'Academia': for students aged 5-13. It has a library, classrooms and an airy teaching space to inspire creativity and promote learning.

    * 'Millennium': flexible space for music and crafts.

Sports include football, aerobics, padel, tennis, athletics, swimming, karate, golf and much more. Naturally in winter, the focus is on snow sports with skiing and snowboarding as part of the curriculum. La Garenne has its own ski team.

Creativity comes with art, drama, debating, music, singing and dance. Beyond the classroom, there are expeditions, cultural visits and charity initiatives. Our demanding overseas trips enable students to complement their studies with IB Service as Action projects.

La Garenne International School is one of a kind. Its pioneering approach to boarding education is known and respected throughout the world. Owned and managed by the second generation of the Méan family, LGIS retains its original family atmosphere.
