At Leysin American School in Switzerland, we develop innovative, compassionate, and responsible citizens of the world.

Our idyllic campus is tucked away in a beautiful mountain town. It provides the ideal environment for students, faculty, and staff to learn together in a safe, residential community in the Swiss Alps. Leysin, located in western Switzerland, represents the epitome of Swiss culture. Our striking, cozy hometown is an internationally-recognized ski destination with the hospitality, facilities, and lifestyle that appeal to students and global visitors alike. Leysin was also one of the host venues for the 2020 Youth Olympic Games.

We offer students an academically challenging setting with the goal of developing lifelong learners. Jointly accredited by NEASC and IBO, LAS provides a program for students at a variety of levels. IB Diploma students engage in deep, concentrated learning through engagement with the International Baccalaureate curriculum. The IB Diploma Programme has over 40 course offerings (SL/HL classes) available for students to select a program that best suits them and their future goals.

In 2022, the highest score at LAS was a 45. 34% of LAS candidates scored higher than 38 points, and the average score was 36 points. LAS had a 100% pass rate. 23% of candidates at LAS received an IB Bilingual Diploma. LAS re-introduced AP subject exams in 2020, and the first cohort sat their AP exams in May 2021.

At LAS, we are committed to providing a stable, caring, supportive, family-like environment. We are a diverse, tight-knit community where staff members are always on hand to give students care and guidance as they navigate the responsibilities and challenges of young adulthood. We offer our students a balanced program of study, sports, recreation, and cultural travel to promote a well-rounded education. During the winter, students ski twice a week from our ski-in, ski-out campus.

At LAS, we seek out every chance to connect our students with impactful hands-on learning opportunities so they can see the practical applications of their studies at work in the real world. We augment traditional classes with programs and events that build on students' passions and address current global issues, helping our students develop fundamental skills in critical thinking, entrepreneurship, and teamwork.

We take pride not only in educating stellar students but also attracting the attention of strong universities. Our university advisors begin working with students in grade 9, building relationships that focus on character, gratitude, personal excellence, and relationships. We facilitate a dedicated weekly course to support them in their personal and academic goals once they leave LAS.
