Located on a secure private residential estate, 20 minutes from central London and within easy reach of the airports and all transport links, Marymount International School offers both boarding and day places to girls between 11 and 18.
Marymount has taught the International Baccalaureate for more than 35 years and results have consistently put this independent girls' school in the top rankings. In 2017 over 25% of the student body achieved 40 points or more, putting them into the top 5% worldwide. The graduating class of 2017 achieved an average of 35.8 points, well above the world's average. Since the IB is accepted at universities worldwide, students are able to go on to top universities across the globe, which include Ivy League in the USA and Oxbridge in the UK.
Marymount has always maintained a cutting edge approach to pedagogy and installed a new Fab Lab in 2013 - the first school in the UK to do so! This will enable the tuition of programming, coding and robotics by means of a cross-disciplinary curriculum covering physics, mathematics as well as the arts.
In concert with the school’s nurturing and caring approach classes are small and study programmes are planned to meet the needs of individual students.
Founded in 1955 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), the school has a strong Catholic tradition which is inclusive and welcomes other faiths. Through the RSHM, Marymount is connected to 19 other sister schools across the globe.
As a reflection of the school's openness to and support for a truly international student body, nearly 50% of the students graduate with a Bilingual Diploma. Languages taught for native speakers include Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean and Arabic.
The student body is made up of 250 girls from over 40 different nationalities – the largest group in the school are students from the UK followed by students from Japan, Germany, Spain, France, China, North America, Australia and Korea.
Boarding students are offered a full range of extracurricular activities both in the evenings and at weekends. Boarding staff organise visits, activities and the attractions of London and surrounding areas are close by.
In line with Marymount's Catholic values the IB sets out 'to develop caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect'. Marymount's graduates attest that they feel they have been stretched academically, spiritually and socially: they are fully prepared for university and for life.
