Oakham School has always been at the forefront of educational developments, having successfully offered the IB Diploma for nearly 20 years. We are well known and loved for being a friendly and unpretentious co-educational boarding and day school with over 500 boarders.

Our educational ethos reflects the IB's vision to nurture intellectually ambitious thinkers, giving them the ability to learn effectively and independently at school and beyond. Our IB Diploma results far exceed the global average and our teachers are leading practitioners.

Whilst we are proud of our 400-year heritage, we continue to look to the future and our focus now, as we introduce the IB MYP to our pupils in Forms 1-3, is on equipping our students with the knowledge, aptitudes and skills to thrive in the world of 2030 and beyond.

Students benefit from the School's location close to Rutland Water, in the heart of safe, rural England. The beautifully green campus is just a few minutes' walk from Oakham's historic town centre, whilst Oakham's excellent road and rail links mean that London, Birmingham and Cambridge are all within easy reach.

At Oakham, learning is never just confined to the four walls of a classroom. Hundreds of students take part in the Arts - there are five major drama productions every year, we teach over 500 individual music lessons each week, and our award-winning Art & Design Department is a hive of creative activity. Oakham also has a national reputation for Sport, offering 30 different sports to students of all levels - from enthusiasts to elite athletes. Activities are also an integral part of life beyond the classroom, with students able to choose from over 130 activities to take part in each week, to discover and develop their interests and talents, and provide service to others. In addition to Duke of Edinburgh, CCF, and Voluntary Action, options range from dance to robotics, e-textiles to sailing - there is something for everyone!

Oakham is an exceptionally caring and vibrant boarding community. Our unique House structure ensures we nurture all aspects of our pupils' well-being during every stage of their Oakham journey. Expertly trained staff support our students, helping them to become resilient and responsible within a home-from-home environment.

Our students leave Oakham as well rounded and confident young adults, who are effective and independent learners, well equipped with the skills and habits of mind to succeed in tomorrow's world.
