Founded in 2012, OurPlanet International School Muscat is a co-educational school in the heart of Oman's capital, Muscat. We currently welcome students aged 3-15 from diverse cultural backgrounds encompassing nearly 30 different nationalities.

OPIS aims to foster a multicultural and inquiry-led learning environment in English and Arabic that promotes sustainability and celebrates Oman's unique cultural identity.

The OPIS community is a close-knit mesh of passionate and knowledgeable educators, and students who aim at becoming life-long learners. We work closely with our PTA, keeping the relationship between all stakeholders embedded in mutual trust and understanding.

Our curriculum empowers students to expand their horizons and prepare to be responsible and independent global citizens. English-language subjects include Math, Social Studies, Science, English Language & Literature, Visual Art, Music, Design, PSPE and Islamic Studies. Arabic-language subjects include Omani Social Studies, Arabic Language & Literature and Islamic Studies. German and Arabic are also taught as foreign languages.

"Omani Hearts and International Minds" is our motto, and our school events calendar reflects this belief. We celebrate Omani Women’s Day, Omani National Day and International Peace Day, among other holidays. School events include a winter concert, outdoor learning days, and athletic competitions, while service projects and community fundraisers are a common occurrence, initiated and planned by our internationally minded and action oriented students.

Field trips, too, play a significant role in our curriculum, as we believe environments outside the classroom have much to teach our students. We plan educational trips throughout the year, including overnight stays, that help build leadership qualities in each child. Learner Profile Attributes play a central role on all school trips, as well as a focus on communication, thinking, self-management and problem-solving skills. Opportunities for student leadership are also available through the OPIS Student Council, which is geared towards supporting sustainability initiatives at the school, as well as the development of Service as Action learning outcomes.

The OPIS After School Activities programme includes a blend of creativity and sports. We pride ourselves on providing a wide range of activities to students, engaging with the best vendors in Muscat alongside our in-house teacher-practitioners.

Enrollment, based on availability, is open all year round. Applicants must supply school reports from the previous two academic years and pass grade-level entrance assessments.
