About

Ritsumeikan Uji Junior and Senior High School is located in Uji City, south of Kyoto in central Japan. The school is mixed boarding and day, coeducational, and offers an integrated six-year curriculum. Ritsumeikan Uji High School was established in 1994 as an affiliated school of Ritsumeikan University, one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Japan. The school was rebuilt in its current location in 2002 and established a junior high school in 2003.

IBDP Programme

Among the many courses available to students, Ritsumeikan Uji offers the IB Diploma Programme to a growing number of students each year. Authorized as an IB World School in 2009, the school was the first Japanese (non-international) school in the Kansai region to offer the Diploma Programme, and it is widely recognized as one of the best in the country. Successful graduates of our programme will hold a dual degree, an IB Diploma and a Japanese High School Graduation Certificate, and will be well-positioned to gain admission to top colleges and universities around the world. Recent diploma programme graduates have been accepted at Amherst College, the Australian National University, Duke University, Imperial College London, New York University Abu Dhabi, Toronto University, Tufts University and many others.

Resources and Events

DP students at Ritsumeikan Uji have access to first-class resources, including four science labs, a multilingual library, media labs, and an observatory, as well as a wealth of events including culture day, sports day, astronomy night, and the annual art festival. The school dormitory hosts many IB Diploma students from around the world, supports a wireless internet, and is a short bus ride to campus. In addition, the school supports DP student travel to overseas student conferences. DP students benefit from small class sizes and a highly dedicated staff, and are offered a range of course options so that they can spend more time on areas of special interest.

Goals

IBDP education at Ritsumeikan Uji builds on over fifteen years of experience in international education in order to offer a unique education which is focused on the twin goals of preparing students to succeed in increasingly competitive global education and labor markets, and to be responsible participants in the 21st century international community. We are strongly committed to both the academic and personal development of our students and reflect this commitment in everything that we do.
